He founded and served as President of the North Country Physicians Organization in 1995. This organization oversaw physician, medical center, and insurance company interactions. This organization was instrumental in the improvement of HMO healthcare in the area. Many patients in this upstate New York hamlet benefited greatly from this. For over 30 years, he has been a member of the American Urologic Association, the American Board of Urology, and the American Medical Association. He has been a diligent and well-respected Board Certified Urologist throughout his career. For many years, Dr. Buscemi has been a clinical lecturer for medical students, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners.
Dr. Buscemi deals with a wide range of urologic issues. BPH, bladder cancer, erectile dysfunction, hypogonadism, male and female urinary incontinence, Peyronie's disease, prostate cancer, prostatic urology, testicular cancer, urinary stone disease, male infertility and family planning, interstitial cystitis, urethral strictures, and a variety of conditions causing chronic renal failure are some of his special interests.
Dr. Buscemi takes a holistic approach to medicine. Many common illnesses and ailments, he argues, can be managed and treated via food and lifestyle changes. He believes that drugs and surgery should only be used when all other options have failed. He loves teaching his patients and supporting them in building individualized treatment plans that are tailored to their specific needs and problems.
Dr. Buscemi enjoys cycling, climbing, and skiing in his spare time. He also enjoys tennis and swimming, as well as cooking. He is happily married and enjoys spending time with his wife and three children when traveling.
